I have a outdoor 325g water container I use for SW mixing. Last time I had to heat the water 12 degrees to match the insides temperature... that was a lot of work with two propane burners heating water. How can I heat the water fast? I had about 600 or 700 watts worth of heaters inside but they did nothing over one hour period. I guess with summer coming I will have to think about cooling... so complicated lol. Any suggestions?

Yea :-). I have about 800 gallons of tanks. I would put it in the house but there is no more room in the aquarium room. Wish I could redo my room design lol

Tough one. How about filling 5 gallon containers with hot water from your water heater (closed of course) into your mixing tank to warm the water. Once they equalize, empty and redo. Use whatever size containers you have. Put bubble wrap on top of the water to keep heat in. 5 gal at 140 deg. and 325 at 68 deg would raise the temp 1.1 deg I think. I'm not sure I did that right, but you get the idea.

This might take a little more work but... run a tube from the hot side of your water heater through a coil submerged in your container, through a pump, and back into the cold side of your water heater. If you have to do this regularly it might be worth the effort. I was thinking of soft copper for the coil but that would be expensive and the copper might be bad to have in there unless you're FOWLR. Plastic tube would also work. If your creative, you could rig up a thermostat to turn the pump on and off.

How about mixing the water 2-3 days early and let it mix gradually with the 700-800 watts of heaters?

You're probably going to need more than 700-800 watts. I have my sump in the garage hooked up to my 185g, two 300w heaters and a 200w heater. I just ordered two more 300w heaters because it wasn't enough. I plan to take the 200w offline so I'll have a total of 1200w. The temperature was dropping 8-9° at night.

But seriously.... this link... http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=99668&page=18 is the build link of the aquariums. It does not show the reef tank in the back of the room to well. I leave that one all natural and its thriving. If you start from page one you can see the transformation of the aquarium room/wall. I have sheet rock up now but think I will tear it out and do a wood sided wall. Got the idea from a cabin I stayed at... the light color wood looked great and it would solve the problem of figuring out how to feed them from the front of the aquarium.

A pex tubing recirculating loop off of your water heater with a pump controlled by an aquastat that coils in your RO holding tank would work. Or even adding yourself a small point of use water heater than you can plug into your wall outlet with a circulating loop. Let me know if you need some help. I would like to see those tanks in person. :)

+1 to what's been said, and I would wrap insulation around the tank as best I could to help raise faster, and maintain, the temp of the water.

I was thinking something along those lines. I remember my dad buying a instant propane water heater for hisnold hunting camper. Might have to make a small outdoor room and house it in but be worth the effort. .... got me thinking
