View Full Version : Adding a GFO reactor to my setup

I'm going to be adding a reactor this weekend, I am running a mag 7 return pump that is a bit strong for my overflow, and I really don't want another pump. I'm thinking about plumbing out of my existing return line into the reactor, then out of the reactor back into the return line with a T junction. I have a picture I drew.

Can anyone smarter than me see any problems with this setup, any enhancements or advice?

Thanks in advance

I would recommend the exit of your reactor be back into your sump. Water will take the path of least resistance. The way it's pictured, water will not flow through the reactor. Tee off your pump through a valve to control the amount of flow into your reactor.

+1 to sump

Hmm even better, just a regular old ball valve? And I'm guessing have it flow back into my return chamber?

yes. Just a regular ball valve. The head pressure up to your tank will be more than enough to pressure the reactor if it's plumbed back into the sump. I wouldn't think it mattered at all where in sump. The valve would be to throttle back the amount so you have a slow flow.
