I wasn’t sure if I should post this here or in the emergency section. It’s not really an emergency so... I have these Alpha and Omega zoas that were opening up fine the first week of being in the tank but as of this week, they have only been opening up a little as you can see in the picture. My Sunny D zoas are opening fine and are even growing new babies. My Dragon eyes are doing great also as well as all of my other zoas and corals. Does anyone know why they are doing this. I tried blasting them with a turkey baster to knock off anything that might be on there but it didn’t help. They still only open a little. I thought it might be too high and getting too much light but like I said for the first week they were open all the way and looking really nice.

Look for seven legged astrinas or some small nudibranches.

Check in the middle of the night. The astrinas will cup over them at night and are hard to spot. But not impossible.

ill have to check in the morning when I get to work since thats where the tank is. I just looked now but the lights have been on for awhile. I dont recall seeing any this morning before the lights came on. Im always looking at the tank in my office so Im sure i would have noticed something on them.

You'd be surprised. Both are nocturnal so you may be missing it.

Is there any vibration coming from the power head behind them that they may not like?

I had turned it off for a couple hours but it didn't do anything. I'll try to move them to another location if they don't fully open.

Awesome to hear! Have any pics of the coral you got from me in your tank?

Good deal. Glad to hear they rebounded. I am nursing some AOG's that were apparently to close to one of my hammers. :(

what did you have to do to get them to open? Was it to much flow? Light?

I just blasted them to knock off anything that might have been on there. I didn't see anything but just in case. And did a water change.

The single polyp sunny D zoa is already a 4 polyp frag and the 5 polyp alpha and omega is arealy a 8 polyp frag with 3 more starting to form. Ive only had them for about a month or so i believe. Really good frags from accer15.
