I need to clean some pumps that have been sitting for a while and they're encrusted in old coraline, I know that I can use a vinegar/water solution, but I wanted to know what the ratio is, and what kind of vinegar? Thanks

I just dump in extra strength vinegar like 1-3 ration water to vinegar

I dump about two or three capfuls to every gallon and it's always white vinegar.

I just use straight vinegar, let it soak overnight and the coraline will come right off, and the equipment will look like new. Make sure you soak in fresh water afterward to get the vinegar all off.

I've also used muriatic acid with great success for cleaning skimmers, pumps, sumps etc. everything looks brand new after cleaning. Just be very careful using it.
