First, thank you for volunteering. Unless you have done this before, there's no way you will understand how much time it takes. I've held both positions before.
The job of MODS is a nightmare. Unless you have done this, there's no way to understand, even on a smallish forum like MAAST (I was the Admin for a huge car club for several years - ugh). It is insanely hard to balance your position, with that of our members. They are apolitical. EVERYONE takes things personally - intended or not. This is the nature of the written word.
To the BOD. Unless you have been a MOD, you don't understand. Your job is to run the club. This does not include doing the job of the moderators. That is why we have moderators, and why we intentionally separated the duties a few years ago. Some will remember what happened when BOD members take things into their own hands, and MAAST was run as a dictatorship. Look at it this way: You are the Mayor (President) and City Council. The moderators are the police. Unless you have the ability to stop a crime in progress, let the police do their jobs. Please. It works WAY better that way.
