How do you get the suction going from the box to the drainage with the U tube?

Jason from Aquarium Designs told me to submerge U tube completely underwater, put Saran Wrap over both ends to hold tube full of water, place one end of tube in each box which should have water in them already.Pull Saran Wrap off each end and start Return Pump......Works every time

Could use ziplock Baggie or anything that will seal end of tube.Make sure U tube is completely filled with tank water

Yeah, basically you have to pout the air tube at the level where the u tube bends and suck it. Too far into the u-tube and you'll get water and too little nothing.

yeah, it was a pain, but i got it. water changes will be frustrating im sure...

to be honest though, when i had the wet/ dry set up years ago i dont remember it being too big of a hassle.

When you do water changes as long as you don't pull the U tube out of water in either end you shouldn't loose your suction.
