air pumps...

newbie question here....what would someone use an air pump for in a saltwater tank/system? I have seen a few for sale on the classifieds and just curious what purpose they might be using them for other that the obvious?

Some protein skimmers use them. Breeding systems, quarantine systems. Just a few I could think of.
