Kind of a thread ill be using to keep all my stuff together. Where I started to how the most current the tank is doing, hope you enjoy! Thank you!

The beginning, moved my stuff from a 29 to a 40b in a temp setup...

I got beyond busy and my tank went for the worst...using tap water and instant ocean. My poor clown passed away and I decided to start focusing on the tank again.

Dont mind the mess and the ski lodge walls lol.. Moved into father house.

Got a sump and overflow off Zach.

Running the overflow backwards to make sure it wasn't leaking.

Nice. How you liking the hydras

I love them. The light is sideways right now, so when I turn it long ways with the tank the almost perfect spread should fill the tank all the way

I got a 40b as well and I'm wondering if one hydra would work for it until I get another.

You could probably do one hydra (regular hydra?) on a 40, but it'd have to be high and corals centered below the light for spread.

Regular hydra or a sol blue or white.

I'll post pics tonight or tomorrow. Am having to battle hydroids right now. Not the best news after I stocked up on some new coral.

Setting up and fluval spec today incase I have to start pulling my Coral while I battle these guys. Saw one latch on the my nem and they but got still for a second and then new retracted it arm very quickly as the hydroid began searching its arm around again. Some bad stuff here

I was able to siphon some of the bigger hydroids that were bothering the coral and cut back on feeding. They still seem to be growing steadily though. After a lot of research I've decided to go ahead with key hole limpets, I ordered some today, I hope then are hungry for hydroids when they get here lol.

Having some good success so far with blasting them with boiling water. It's been 2 days since I blasted the first ones and I haven't seen them since.

That is a good sign. Get the rest and I would probably blast them again just to play it safe.

So the 20-30 look to have dwindled to a handful, counted maybe 5 and they look very skinny. So the blasting with hot water, running lights at 33%, dialing back the vortech and most important I think, spot feeding pellets instead of blasting flake into the tank have seem to shown good hope! I won't be happy till I see none though

Well I noticed only about 3 or 4 thriving ones in there so I ramped up the lights a but from 36-48%. Well I guess they love they higher lighting cause the ones I shot with boiling water were trying to come out so I quickly turned the lights back down when I noticed. They seemed to go back down but I may have to hit them a few more times to finish them off.

So an update. "Nothing good comes fast." Lol ok ok.

Hydroids down, added some new sand to the bed, installed a pump that was leaching heavy metals into water and light acclimation expires turning them up to 83% all day I was gone. Got home and everything was closed except the toadstool and nem. Ammonia is spiking over the next few days losing half my cuc and both my cleaner shrimp. Turn to circulation pump and light to help stressed coral and in return it stressed the nem and toadstool who were not bother until this point. The nem started walking around and found its home on the toadstools foot making him close up and the tank became cloudy. At that point I removed the nem from the toadstool and them being in the back, I slid the light back there so it just hitting them and they have begun to perk up while the other heal. This morning toadstool had almost full polyp extension and some zoas were starting to peak out to see some light. Hoping everything is starting to stable out.
