OK MAAST-onians,

I am operating my 75g fowlr and at present I am running the Aquatop CF400UV 4-stage canister filter with a 9w built in UV pushing 370 gph (the most amazing canister filter I have EVER purchased!!). I do not have a skimmer running at present, my water is crystal clear and parameters are all within acceptable ranges. I have a arothron dog face puffer (Thorin Oakenshield) and a lunare wrasse (Legolas Greenleaf....dont judge me people LOL) housed together and they are very cohesive. The question at hand is do I need a skimmer on this set up or will the canister suffice? I had the Instant Ocean SCPS-100 SeaClone Protein Skimmer running with it but the darn pump burned out and I just removed it altogether and did not replace it. I come seeking knowledge O' Great MAAST-onians!

In a tank that large, I'd recommend a skimmer.

I would also recommend a skimmer. It will pull a lot of junk out of the water before it brakes down making all your maintenance less. less water changes, less cleaning the canister and might make the water even more clear.

if it's a fowlr I wouldn't worry too much, a skimmer would help but with just two fish I don't think it's going to pull that much gunk out. if you decided to up the bio loAd with more fish it would be wise. as for now I would just keep up with water changes
