Ok so I have a mixed reef with hermit crabs. I read cucumbers release a toxin if bothered by hermit crabs, I have a few big ones. Question is how dangerous is this toxin to the tank itself (basically will it crash my system), and if anyone else has had them and if it is a livestock you would recommend?

We have 2-3 in the reef tank (no hermits). Had them for years. Think they are good additions to you CUC. Not too sure on the hermits though, guess depends how big.

I've had cucumbers in all of my tanks with hermits. Never had any issues. They are good sand cleaners. I always run carbon just in case they ever release toxins.

Thank you both, I am still a little undecided, but more than likely I will be getting one.
