Does anyone know who makes a good custom sump? Been looking on net and just can't find what I want without losing an arm and leg... Any help would be appreciated!!

FWIW a good sump is gold. I still use my 30" wet dry on my 125 that Dan built back in 1991. I had it on my 135 originally

sumps/refugiums are awesome and can be a great display too. Get creative if you cant custom built, get a tank that will fit your footprint, and silicone some baffles in there, lowes will cut the acryllic for you. see what you come up with. Have fUN.

Might want to pm psyko(Tuan) too, a lot of members here also have their sump built by him.

Sure appreciate all the info and will look into Elegant and Psyko.. If I had a table saw like I used to, I would just make my own.

This is my 1st post here as a new member so I'm replying to what I think is an important topic. Louis from Elegant Reef designed a custom 40" sump for my 300 gallon & I couldn't be happier with it! He's a frigan genius! Well worth the extra money I spent on it. He says it's the best one he's ever created & I agree. I can send you photos of it if you haven't purchased one yet if you want to email me @ dgille@ satx.rr.com Tell Louis Dave Gille sent you. You won't regret it!

That white one on your site is sick! It's too nice to be hidden under a stand. I'd want to show that beauty off.

Louis arrived tonight to install the new sump. It looks amazing! Unfortunately...it is too big to get it under the tank where it sits. So...Monday morning, the crew will be here to drain and move the tank, install the sump, and put it back. Louis, sorry about the extra work...guess we should have measured for the install first :)
On the upside..it looks awesome and will be amazing in the tank once it's in!

I think Zephyr aquatics is also building custom sumps now. From what I understand the big difference between the two vendors is Elegant makes a smaller return pump area requiring an ATO whereas, Phenomenal makes a bigger pump return area, (of course I'm always for an ATO but I also like a big pump chamber to make sure there is ample room for pumps even though I use the Sicce pumps). I also think Jason at Aquarium designs builds a sump just not sure how efficient the design is. Stay away from Texas Tropical sumps as they're still back in the dark ages using bio ball and they're sumps reflect this. With that said I'm sure most vendors can customize to suit your needs as there is only a single acrylic guy building these sumps for all the fish stores in san antonio.

Think your talking about his standard line of sumps he keeps in stock the 24x20 one that fits under many tanks, ya it requires a ato to run with less hassle. it's his bread and butter sump per say. you can pick whatever size chambers if you go custom

lmao @ tx tropical comment

Plan on upgrading to sponsor as well really soon, just trying to line up a few things:

Electric is right on though, smaller return section does require an ATO for evaporation, never been a big deal for me either as I always use an ATO container.

JJ at Zephyr aquatics has the best prices and the most skilled acrylics man in town. He can customize your sump to fit your very specific needs.
