i actually believe it's a bunodeopsis anemone, normally found in symbiosis with hermit crabs and related to the anemones that pom pom crabs carry. The hermit, when transferring shells, will move the anemone to its new shell. Fascinating stuff, so i would guess finding a decorator crab that had formed the same symbiosis to be fairly rare.

Interesting you mention this. I have a hermit with some type of duster/nem on it and was always curious/terrified about it.

I was pretty sure it was not aiptasia since it has a reddish/purple base but the top looks like it which made me chuckle. That's cool about symbiosis. I wonder if the crab moves it each time it molts?
