I have been running one of these over a 30 gallon rectangle for a couple of months and can't seem to find the happy medium to keep all of the corals happy. I have it mounted on the light to tank bars that it came with so it is approximately 8" above the water. Does anyone have a similar set up and know what a good daytime setting is for proper par saturation? I have sps in the top half of the tank and zoas, softy, euphyllia in the lower 1/4 to the sand bed. a PAR meter would of course be the answer but I can't bring myself to spend that much money on a device I would very rarely use.

i have been having great success with my maxspect lights. i ramp up to 100% at around 10 am and run them to 6 at 100% until they start going blue for the night. crazy good growth.

Have you had any negative impact on zoanthids or palys?

My lights are about 2' from my zoas and palys. I had the lights set at 100% for a week I have noticed a stop in growth and less extension. Do you have Zoas in your tank? How rom from the light if so?

There is a MAAST PAR meter floating around that someone donated. You might inquire to see who has it currently .

I asked Ben about it last night. Seems that it was never returned after the last person borrowed it. I wonder if any LFS rent them out.

I have mine on the stands that came with the lights. I peak blues at 80% and whites never above 50%(algae growth). Duncan is sprouting 11 heads toadstool is open all the way getting growth on star polyps and a group of palys. Green button sproutted two new heads everything else has not been in long enough to see any growth.

Thanks. I will check with Louis.

I read this and it dawned on me that I may still have this. So I checked behind my couch and there it was! Anyone who's been to my place knows I can prob put together a whole tank with all the crap behind my couch...

I'll be taking it back to ER tomorrow.

I also have one of these razors. But I don't notice a lot of growth and I do see a lot of extension. Can some of you post percentage and time frames for each of the 6 stages. Thanks

I am still playing with getting mine right for a mixed reef. SPS grow like wildfire under it at 70-80% but zoas and palys don't like it that high. I am down to 65% white and blue this week. I ramp it up slow, peak for 4 hours, and then ramp it down slow. 12 hour cycle.

Will one 160w 27" long fixture be enough for a 55 gal tank?

No, I'd say the max is a 36'' tank

it really depends on your budget, but for leds, your looking at at least two fixtures from most companies (ai, ecotech etc..)
