Definitely a species of nudibranch.
Usually the really pretty ones aren't reef safe.

Put him somewhere safe until you find out. It's really pretty. You can feed it Texas trash or fairy dust.

Its a "Chromodoris magnifier nudibranch apparently Very hard to keep, will put it in my sump for time being...

Most nudibranchs have very specialized diets which makes them hard to keep. It looks like this nudibranch only eats sponge, and possibly only a certain type of sponge.

Will try to take it back tomorrow before it starves, bummer, its really pretty…. You'd think that after all these years I'd know better than to buy something before doing my homework first….

Saddest part of this is that it is in the retail chain to begin with. Almost certainly doomed to death as the typical hobbyist can't keep something like this.

It happens to the best of us. Every once in a while you need the reminder to research everything you buy. I recently got the reminder by buying a red ball sponge. I knew better but did it anyway. :( Taking it back is a good plan, it's a pity though, it's a really pretty critter.
