I am about ready to add a couple of large angels to my mixed reef 125 gallon. I was planning a Red Sea Regal and was thinking about a Blue Faced Angel too.
Regals get good remarks on being reef safe. Anyone try a Blue Face in a mixed (mostly LPS and Zoas) reef?
Alternates for the Blue Face would be a Navarcus/Blue Girdled or Emperor. I would LOVE an Emperor (one of my all time favs!) but I worry an Emperor would out grow my 125 gallon tank quickly though.
Both would be purchased as about 3" juveniles and introduced at the same time.
Any experience I could learn from out there before I buy?

If you like your Zoas, you might want to rethink your decision. My experience has been that angels like them best. They seem to get stoned on them, or something.

2 large angels in a 125 is likely to be trouble. At least they are from different oceans, but I suspect you might have some fights. That being said, I'm thinking of an Emperor and Rock Beauty.

I had an adult do very well, then got a juvenile and killed everything in site. My Red Sea Regal's have been safe so far, but no brains, and no Zoo's. FYI Regal's do not do well with other large angels

Thanks,
My Zoas are my favorites. I have the rock beauty, Have had it for 3 months with no problems. Eats like a pig and quite a lot of personality. I LOVE angels. I will add a small juvenile Emperor and keep a close eye. If he nips, he can go back to the store. I have a great source for healthy Rock Beauties I can recommend if anybody wants. This is my third. All have done well, eaten right away and last for years in my tanks.
I still would love a Regal and have a source for Regals that are only sold if they are eating frozen (Moorish Idols too!) but, will wait and see how the Juvi Emp does first.
I worry about the Emperor growing too big for my tank. The Rock Beauty and Regal max out at about 8 inches in the wild and probably no more than six in an aquarium.
*SIGH* I would have a angel species tank if I could!

You can, you just need a bigger tank. Say 500-1000 (tel:500-1000) gallons. Time for an upgrade. :)

We have a fully adult emperor angel in my 140g FOLWR. Is totally the boss and is fat and happy . Certainly wouldn't trust it in a reef tank, as I have seen it eat star polyps and nothing usually eats them.
