2014 Board Of Directors Nominations

It's that time of the year again. MAAST is looking for volunteers to seek election on the Board of Directors. It is open to those that are current charter members in good standing and have a want to help MAAST. Listed below are the current BOD members and the positions open for election (there a total of 5 openings) listed below. Please nominate yourself or anyone else that will serve.

Members may nominate any charter member, themselves included that they feel worthy for the position. It is requested that the nominee submit a post that he/she accepts as well as submit a small bio explaining why they would like to join the BOD and what special qualities they have that can be beneficial to the club.

In addition to the above mentioned, we the BOD would also like to see the maximum participation from you, our club members. Now is your chance to make a difference and make things happen.

We will close this thread on Wednesday November 20th so that the election polls can begin.

If so, I would like to re-elect them if they are available to continue. MAAST has had a great 2013 because of the team listed above. I would assume that if any of the BOD members listed that are still serving terms were to become President or VP that 1 or 2 more spots would open up on the BOD as well....?

Correct Rob. There is a possible total of 7 BOD positions that will be available depending in nominations.

Yes, the BOD members that have terms expiring are able to be nominated again.


On a side note, if you use Tapatalk to view the forum the BOD members who have expiring terms are not showing correctly in red. Basically it's the last 5 positions.

Unfortunately with the time spent these last 3 years volunteering for totm, totq, and the bod, I will be taking some time off from maast. While I have enjoyed my time on the bod, I think it's time for some new blood and new ideas.

I encourage anyone with a love for maast to nominate themselves or others. A bod position is one of the best ways to give back to maast.

I would like to nominate both Shane (Bbqhillbilly) and Paul (paul28). Both of these members have always had an uplifting spirit and drive for MAAST. I think would do well on the board in the future and lend some new ideas to usher in a fresh perspective on things.

Alton & Cory, thank you for all the work you put forth for MAAST. You did an outstanding job and I will most certainly miss you guys.. The entire board this year did well. My nominations are the following:

I'd like to be on the BOD for a few reasons, I like meeting new people, learning new ways of maintaing/ building aquarium set ups ( as most know I purchased the 250 from ace so that build is gonna start when hubby gets back and has time) I enjoy writing up the newsletter with the help of MAAST members ( if not for y'all there would be no photos 😂) I love all fish and sea life and feel that between use trading amongst ourselves and purchasing corals that are fragged from captive systems we can help save the oceans reefs which are endangered from over harvesting, pollution, and other elements. I am a stay at home mom so this is a hobby the whole family enjoys as well as all who see it. It's amaZing to see photos or in person everyone's tanks and find out how they do things.
Not sure what else there is to say except I love being apart of this group of people.

Thanks so much for the nomination, Ben! Regretfully, I'd like to sit this one out. Between living in New Braunfels, having a hyper 2 year old boy and working weird and long hours at work, I'm not sure I'd be perform the duties at a high level. I really do appreciate the nomination, Ben! I hope that this may be something I could do in the future. :)

Well, I'd like to be on the BOD because honestly, maast is the best site I could have asked for when I started with my 10 gallon a few years back and I owe it to the forum for making me into the reefer and person I am today. I've met a ton a great people here and I'd love to be a part of continuing this forum for others.

Currently, I hold a moderator position and have had that position for several months.

Anyways, bio time! I've been in the hobby since 2010 when my physics teacher (technomex) gave me a pair of tomatoes for my 75 gallon fowlr, after returning from A&M Glaveston where I did one year of marine bio, I switched to physical therapy major at TX State as I was inspired by a family member who was paralyzed yet with PT learned to drive and live an almost normal life, and when I moved into my dorm my sophmore year I setup my 10 gallon! From there, I went to a 20 long, 40 breeder, and soon I'll be down to an 8 gallon ADA! Thanks for the nomination!

Glad to see you step up dude. I think you would be great on the BOD and enjoy the experience.

I share your thoughts as I'm sure most do on here, in that when we were newbs MAAST was a vital tool for learning how to reef.
