UV to battle bubble algae?

After hand picking/scraping/poking at bubble algae, has anyone tried using UV to fight bubble algae spores and any subsequent outbreaks?

Thinking about adding one myself to kill the free floating algae cells. Still leery about adding one to a reef tank with the potential issues with zapping beneficial bacteria and micro-fauna.

I have pondered the same thing, but I figure getting rid of the nasty looking algae a priority right now.

Are emerald crabs out of the question?

Yep, I have tried the emerald crab route. I have bought around 10 already and they have not even made a dent. Also, most seem to just disappear.
