The other night, I heard a squeal coming from my chiller that sounded more like a moose mating call than a mechanical sound. And, this was from a chiller that's plumbed outside, while I was inside with the. TV on.
Quick inspection showed the evaporator motor would seize up every few minutes. Did a quick search of the makers website to get specs on the motor and checked Johnstone's Supply and picked up a packard replacement motor suggested by the manuf. for $29.95 including tax.

This was after about 45 minutes of work. There's not a lot of room to maneuver and there were times I wished God had given me a 3rd knuckle on each finger and a ratchet wrist.

Bad motor. Bearings were so worn out, I could make it squeal with just a hand twist

New motor with fan blade attached

Installed and ready to go. Pulled the temp down 3 degrees in about 1hr.

Nicely done sir! $29 sounds much better than the price of a new chiller.

Thanks all. My dad made me work way too many summers for his ac company. Guess some of it stuck.
Thanks king. It runs with the LEDs but not nearly as much as it used to.
