Having trouble with Blonde Naso Tang. Was doing fine in QT when introduced to main tank aquired popeye for unkown reason and now seem to have fin rot. I hate to pull the fish from tank due to stress and apparently there is something bad in main tank. Can I dose the tank with antibiotic and what should I use? Parameters good

Have you noticed anything picking at him? Maybe the chromis? My chromis terrorize new additions.

He is hiding almost all the time and he is the biggest thing in the tank. Never have seen anything picking on him.

Size doesn't always matter. Once those chromis are established they can become territorial and they are so small and fast they can hit the fins pretty easy, at least IME. Just throwing out something to think about.

He is still eating so I guess that is a good thing. Just hate the thought if stressing him out to get him out of the tank

Personally, I would not medicate your display tank. Pop eye can be an infection, but there's no guarantee dosing meds would work. Although it will do wonders in killing your bacterial filter.

Personally I'd keep feeding them a healthy variety of foods. Every once in a while 1 or 2 of my fish come down with it and I just make sure their bellies stay full and it goes away in 1-2 weeks.

You could try FEEDING him the antibiotics.
Look up Seachem Metronidazole and Seachem Focus. Just put them both on top of block of frozen food and mix them in as it thaws. They are designed to be used together. The Metronidazole is a great antibiotic and just might eradicate ich. The Focus has another antibiotic, Nitrofurantoin, and a binding agent to bind both medications to the foods.
Now, when you feed him, you are medicating him too! And no medicating the tank.

Do not use any antibiotics in your display tank. They will kill your nitrifying bacteria that are necessary to maintain stable water parameters. If you have to treat a fish, it needs to be moved to a QT. You can use Beta Glucan enriched live food, probiotics or even vitamin c dosing to stimulate their immune system without crashing your biofilter. Although vitamin c dosing really messes with you pH.

You need to target feed him if the condition getting worse, when it cant see the food anymore. Use a long stick with a chunk of shrimp smaller than its mouth and bring it close to its mouth..Am going thru the same deal right now with my big angel..

Frequent water change will help also.
