I was wondering what kind of ways as far as lighting, filtration, and in any way of reef keeping help you conserve electricity. Experience and advise you guys have is appreciated.

How much you looking to cut down?
If you think about it, led units use, lets say 100w/hr, x2 =200w/hr x12= 2,400 watts a day
Assume a price of 8c/kw hr this equals about 20 cents a day, x30= 6$ a month
Unless my physics are wrong, that should be a good way of guageing energy consumption

LEDs would save a lot. You also might want to look into a DC pump. They're more efficient but it's still somewhat new. They've actually been around a while, but they're really starting to catch on.

I was just curious to see what everyone is doing to save in their electric bill. Would like to know how much are you spending on to bill for running the tank alone.

Those DC pumps the external pumps that's outside the sump?

but new gear almost all companies have upgraded their products to be low wattage. i personally like sicce pumps, low wattage and very dependable. vortechs are nice as the can do the work of a few traditional powerheads. what kind of lighting are you looking at

I had a sicce pump for a year with no problems. It's going to be on the next tank if not a bigger pump. Still undecided with lights. I like something that would be cost efficient with energy and performance. I sure do like the one on your tank :)
