So, the new tank is set up...most of the plumbing complete. A trip to Polly's in Universal City proved (as usual) VERY fruitful. Came home with a new 4-5" spotted yellow-eyed tang (similar to a kole). He's being shy at the moment...so not in the picture. The other addition (thank you Randy!) is a VERY good sized ritteri anemone. You can see it to the right in the picture. For size comparison, the sailfin tang there is about 6" as is the magnificent foxface and the puffer is about 10". It's big! LOL

not to be a pessimist, but keep a close eye on that ritteri. they can be very hard to keep at first, especially in a tank as new as yours. if you have any poweheads and it starts to wander, it will kill all of your fish if it gets chewed up and spat out. keep a close eye on its mouth to make sure it stays closed tight, and do some research on cipro treatment.

i'll look up the cipro treatment. I've kept anemones in multiple other tanks, and while this tank is new...the rock and everything is well established from the last system. I do have a few powerheads...but I just pulled out the foam covers for the vortechs for exactly that reason :-) Here's to hoping and watching...lol

Here's another new pic. Less than 24 hours after it went into the tank...seems to be enjoying its new home :-)

I'd also be careful with what you're stocking your tank with. Puffers generally aren't reef safe. Even if yours decides to behave, they're messy eaters so be sure to keep a close eye on nitrates and phosphates.

Ramsey...thanks for the advice. The riterri is the only "reef" item going in there. I've never seen issues with puffers and anemones....so hoping that will be okay. I know puffers are messy...the system is setup with all the rock and the biopellets reactor that I had in the stingray tank, so no nitrites/nitrates and minimal phosphates thus far. I'll keep a good close eye on it :)

Cool, sounds like you know what you're doing. Just wanted to make sure. :)
