I need this out of the tank fast. Came home today and it has already eaten about 30 of my zoas off a rock that I have been growing out for awhile. I need someone with a fish trap to meet me in new Braunfels. I can't drive to San Antonio since I have the baby by myself tonight. It's free to who ever can get me a fish trap tonight. Wouldn't mind a small zoa frag to replace what he has eaten but its not necessary. PM if you can help.

I was going to do that but I can't catch it with a net and am not looking to destroy my tank to get it out. I tried feeding it but it gets scared and hides in the rocks.

Since you don't have a trap, try this.

Wait 2-3 hours after your lights go out, be sure the room the tank is in is as dark as possible, and the tank is completely dark (even if you need to hang a blanket around it). After 3 hours or so, take your net in hand, go to your tank and as quickly as possible turn ALL of your lights on. The fish will come out, but be disoriented, and you will have about 3 minutes to net the foxface before he gets his act together and comes fully awake. I've caught some very skittish fish this way. The sudden lighting disorients and confuses the fish, and they are basically just completely out of it at first and pretty easy to net. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. If I cant get him this way or with a trap Im going to have to take some rocks out of my tank.

Another option, if you can figure out where he sleeps at night. Wait for a couple hours after lights out, then use a flashlight to startle him. He will most likely come flying out of the rocks, and you can net him.

Thats exactly how I caught mine. Scooped him right into the net. He was already in the sump by the time he figured out what happened.

Last time I had a fox face he was caught fairly quickly...by an angler fish with a big appetite. the poor angler died as a result of eating it. the fox-face was 3 times as big as the angler so i thought it was safe enough...
