I know a lot of people have talked about different light options for their refugium so I thought I'd share what a low budget solution is capable of. I just use a $14 dollar full spectrum CF bulb that takes about a minute to warm up when it first turns on in the morning. When I first started using it a couple months ago I was getting very minimal growth chaeto. Now It's so think in their it looks like a shag carpet. A picture is worth a thousand words.

This video is cool because you can see how big my pods are. I take a very minimal approach to reef keeping. I never check my parameters. I add fresh water a few times a week and on occasion I'll do a 20 gallon water change. I basically let my corals tell me how happy things are. I've only been reefing for 3 years and this tank is 2 years established.
