Found this on another site:

http://www.dfs-pet-blog.com/2009/08/quarantine-aquariums-more-than-just-disease-prevention/

And I am guilty of not QTing new livestock.

When you lose a fish that you have had for ten years and it is actually your wifes fish plus a couple others that are 5+ years just because you cut the QT short or did not QT you will QT. Part of my QT is prazi pro, fresh water dip for angels, and alone time in a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub or a 40 gallon tank for 4 to 6 weeks.

I only buy fish that are qt already. I've had too many close calls from ich to velvet to not qt in such a large tank.

The only lfs I know of is Elegant Reef. He runs copper which kills the stuff
I worry about. Then of course liveaquaria.com but they are more expensive.

I would rather pay a little more and get a healthy fish than buy a cheap fish and play the lottery with disease.

QT for a fish store is expensive. The best two stores where Aquarium Sales and Service and CB Pets, both are no longer around because aquarist did not want to pay the extra money for a fish store to keep fish 4 weeks off the showroom floor.
