I am having trouble finding R400 to make a reefscape. What else can I use that I can find locally? I have some portland cement but not sure if that will work?

I know some guys on here use Emarco. Not sure you could find it locally though.

Rudy at All-Tex is a good guy. He will exhaust every option to get you a bag if its available. Give him a couple days and call him back if he doesn't call you. He's usually quite busy.

I've used emarco and it's awesome. You could probably get the same stuff locally, but most likely bigger quantities and it might be hard to find.

Yea I called multiple places in SA, got with the builders associated with the company and still no luck. Rudy is trying to see what he can get me.

If Rudy cant get me any how far does the 15lb emarco kit go?

John and I used it. We got the Emarco from White Building Supply I think or some Building Supply on WW White. lol One or the other. Here's the long term review: the mortar is good. No problems with that. The small formations I made with lightweight dry rock (I like pukani) are still solid. The mortar is heavy though so plan on using it sparingly. The problem longterm I ran into was the overflow covers I made out of mortar, egg crate and pukani pieces... over the years the eggcrate gets very brittle. it literally just falls apart. So yes I'd use the mortar again but I'd think of something different from the eggcrates. The large rock formations I put together by drilling the pukani and screwing it together with nylon rods and nuts. That worked really well too

How visible is the nylon rods and nuts?

here is the old thread. I loved the nylon rod/pukani thing. would do it again in a heartbeat. not very visible as long as you settle the rocks together reasonably well.
