What size tank? I've used the nextreef reactor and I like it, but I've been really impressed with the innovative marine reactor. It's easy to adjust and easy to add or replace media.

Ramsey, does the fullsize IM have the pump underneath the reactor body too? Which one do you have? I thought about that unit but I didn't really like the pump under the body....I know, odd thing to complain about considering it saves space. I guess I'm more curious if it stands upright without issue.

I've done months of looking for a reactor and have all but settled on the NextReef SMR1, but have yet to pull the trigger on it. Still deciding if I really want to run BP or not.

I have the mid size in my 38. Since it's an AIO tank, it mounts firmly against the side of one chamber. I don't have any problem keeping it upright. In a sump, I'd just mount it on the side somewhere. The pump being on the bottom works well for me and is a huge space saver. The real selling point for me though is the ease of flow adjustment and ease of replacing media. It's not near as time consuming or messy as it was with the next reef reactors. You can't really go wrong with the next reef reactors either though. I had two running for years and never had a leak or any issues. I have both sitting in my garage ATM that will likely be set up at some point, but if you'd like to borrow the BP one for a while to see if you like it, just let me know.

Is it an SMR1? I might take you up on that.

The more I look at the IM the more appealing it is. I always forget they have larger models because it's called the MiniMax.

Yes sir, it's the smr1. You will need a small pump or a T off your main pump to run it. I might have something that would work, but I'd have to check. Just let me know and it you want, you can swing by and check out the IM one when you pick up the smr1.
