I am trying to get a guesstimate on what I wuld be looking at for a very large acrylic or fiberglass tank.
A rectangle design with windows in the front side if fiberglass.
Size 14ft x 4ft x ~27" high or so.
Contemplating selling my current in wall tank setups and go with one big one. Already have everything for that large of a setup.

14 ft as long as you give tours and maast members get free tickets, that would be awesome

Wow. You better to a build thread in this beast. I'm in the planning stages of a big plywood tank. I wish I could dish out for an all acrylic tank. Good luck and I look forward to this.

WOW talking about GO BIG OR GO HOME there!!!! might want to try for ATM or Waterdog Product. Thats what I say when I race... If I can't be the fastest might as well go home. I thought ATM but I am sure they are charging a lot since they are now on TV all the time.

Free tours when I move the tank in :-) come by, check out the tank, have some food... oh and help move the tank in lol. I bascially have 13ft of tank right now. I have yet to finish the wall... I need to do that soon lol.

Thats what I am trying to find out... is the price worth it. I am thinking fiberglass would be more of the way to go since its a simple rectangle and don't care about seeing the back or sides. When I finish putting up the wall I will put a build thread on the current setup

From what I read, a plywood tank will save you tons of money over an all glass tank or acrylic tank. Especially once you get into the 300+ gallons arena which you will most certainly be in. Use 1 inch plywood. Coat it in 2 part epoxy or pond Armour and silicone will adhere to it and it will be water proof. The only trick is finding a pane of acrylic or glass big enough. 12 feet was the max I could find that any local place would carry of either. You can get larger but its special order and big dollars.

But that guy has the biggest privately owned tank in the country, nice guy too. My old club is gonna go tour his place and I wanna time a visit with my family so I can check it out too.

Here is ronins build of his plywood tank. And my write up I started. I just got to Hawaii and still waiting on all my tools to arrive to start anything. So it's still all dreams.

Hmmm I don't know about acrylic but Jose has his 600 gallon acrylic, you might want to talk to where he got his from. I know its smaller than what you want but it might give you an idea. I think his is all 1" acrylic. I did glass because I was scared about scratching but mine is only 8x3x2' so its like 1/3 of yours. haha
I told my wife our next house will have a "huge" FO tank in it so we will see if I get lucky enough when we start designing the house. I would like a huge cylinder tank in the entrance or a shark tank that goes in sort of a U shape down the main hallway. Im still trying to figure out how sea world keeps that outdoor reef they have in aquatic.

Yeah. I'd rather have glass to acrylic. Acrylic is pretty clear. As long as you baby the acrylic. Should be a nice setup. Chris, that is a nice tank. But would still need a stand. Still not a bad deal.
