This is one of Aces old tanks I bought from another member on here. Already had a canopy and stand so worked out well for me.

Current equipment:

AI Sol Blue, wireless module, new controller. Bought a rail kit and mounted it in the canopy using conduit supports/clamps.

Reefkeeper lite

Reef Octopus BH-100

Glass holes nano overflow kit, sicce 2.0 return. Need to get gumption to drill the tank. Ace is drilling my big tank, I figured I would "practice" on this one and leave what will be my pride and joy to the pro - probably will drill the JBJ this weekend.

MP10wES and have a couple maxi jet 1200s on standby just in case I get some dead spots.

10 gallon sump

Plans:

25#-30# LR
Pair of photon clowns
Pair of yasha gobies

Have all sorts of fun stuff I have bought from Mr. C and Sherita Ill split between this tank and the 185. Not sure on what else I will add but as soon as I figure it out I'll update. After this gets going I doubt mm uch will go in it until I get the big reef going. Thats going to take me a while as my new daughter is a little more demanding/important so things will progress slower. That said I have almost everything to get it started - just a matter of outting it all together.

Again, sorry - no pictures just yet but shooting for next week!

You should be fine with just the MP10 in this on Reef Crest and not end up with dead spots, but that of course depends on placement. I swear by VorTechs. If you like acans, I will be having some coming from Indonesia since you see to like LPS.

Update:

FINALLY got this thing drilled. I will admit I screwed up. When drilling the first hole I was off and drilled it too close to the rim. The overflow box wouldn't fit, so now I have a 1" drain from the overflow and 1" return instead of 3/4." Whoops.

Also decided I will give sps a go in this one. ourchased an aquamaxx hob calcium reactor, milwaukee ph controller, solenoid etc and a 5 gallon CO2 tank.

Got the AI sol mounted in the canopy. Need to get the controller plugged in to update firmware this weekend to go wireless.

Bought a 10 gallon sump kit to make my life easy but need to purchase a 10 gallon tank. Ideally I would get the tank this weekend and silicone baffles in place while I am doing the overflows on the big tank. We shall see. I may even get around to plumbing this as well this weekend.

It might be cool now that I have two 300-400 gph pumps to do a closed loop on this one as well. I do still have that 3\4" glass holesaw I didnt use :D That may be putting more on my plate than I have time for though, so I will see where I get this weekend and go from there.

Plumbed for the most part. Just went super simple. Didn't glue in plumbing right at sump since its not here yet.

Picking up a 10g tomorrow (have a sump kit waiting for it - going to be a tight fit) and hopefully do a leak test next week after silicone dries. If it passes will get salt in it and throw some rock from the 75 in it. Maybe one day I will get the 185 plumbed, too. Especially because I keep buying crap to stock it with and have since filled up the 75.

I did this same thing to a jbj. I custom built a sump to fit into the stand. Had a skimmer below. It was a heck of a tank.

What skimmer did you use? I am going to ditch the reef octopus HOB in favor of something else.

Try the SWC from ebay, cheap and effective.

**Ignore the random attempts at attaching things from my phone hosting it here and on tapatalk.**

So close to being ready. Thanks to Big Pun I have a sump...it has to hang out the back though. Although its a hair smaller than the inside width if the stand, theres just not enough room to maneuver it in there lengthwise. I am not too terribly worried about it.

Didnt get the baffles siliconed as every one of them in the kit is just a tad too wide. Coukdnt find the dremel in the mess of boxes so it sits until my husband arrives home and I can go look.

How many tanks are you going to have running in your new house?

Two. 185 and this one. The 75 will get sold as soon as I can transfer it over

Had to put a ball valve on the sicce 2.0 to slow things down and control the flushing from the overflow. Quiet as a mouse now. Just dumped salt in the sump. Will power up the skimmer after a while. Enkamat along the bottom of the sump to control noise. Love it already! As soon as I get salinity on, I'm taking some rock from the 75 to get things rockin (pun intended. )

It's funny. I have a 185 and a JBJ 28g Nanocube

Come finish my 185 for me since yours is already up and running. :D

I have to finish the stand and plumb it yet. Then it's getting rock and and water in it. I'm not really looking forward to the rock as much. Aquascaping is going to be tedious based on how tall it us plus the fact I have live rock to figure into the equation.

Also have to drill a siphon break in the return elbow. It will overflow the sump big time if I lose power based on where the return is (my jacked up initial hole I drilled is a tad low. Return is just an elbow coming out if the bulkhead. ) I dont want to deal with worrying about cleaning out a check valve or a snail getting in there. Someone tell me if said worry is unfounded.

Being upstairs thats a big concern of mine. I can't fit anything much bigger than the 10g under it. May eventually get a custom sump made that is more wide than long (and I know just who to call :D) saw this one someone built for the same tank and I really dig it.

Random notes:

I am also really impressed with the MP10. That thing is super cool.

The sicce is dialed back to about 60% to match the overflow.

I need to put plywood underneath so will drain the sump and do that...soon.

Cleared up right nice. Threw three big ol astrea snails in to do some cleanup. The poop piles have been huge from them cleaning up algae I had been neglecting on the rock and such.
