suction cup thermomter floating.....

I am curious to see if there is anything I can do about this. I have a suction cup type thermometer that after a few days sticking to the glass of my tank that it loses its grip and begins floating all over my tank. Is there something I can do about this, or is it just something I will have to get used to?

Try a different suction cup, DIY some sort of a holder, put it in the sump, find a way to use magnets would be the 4 things I looked at
