I have a 135g with sump with nothing in it right now except live rock and sand . It's been cycling for a couple weeks now and I plan to do an eel as part of my livestock. I recently added a Triggerfish to see how he would do, and so far he is doing fine. I was told he came from the Pacific ocean. I know I will need bottom feeders and CUC, and I am going to the coast this week to visit family who live in Port O'Connor. I want to bring back a few Hermit crabs which are abundant right on the coast line and beach area. I was warned from someone that since the Hermits are from the Atlantic, it might introduce a parasite since the Trigger and Hermits are form two different oceans. I don't think they will know the difference ! LOL Any opinions in this before I bring any back, and also if anyone wants any hermits, let me know and how many.

I wouldn't think there would be any more risk than adding new livestock. There is always the risk of parasites with any new livestock, regardless of the origin. This is why I QT.

We usually use damsel to test, because Trigger is a little too expensive just for that ... Lol.. I was at POC last weekend and saw a bunch of cool little fishes right on the sand at the jetty.
