The only salt that I have seen in town is IO, I am 4 cups short of my water change that is mixing now, so I need to grab some new salt. Is there anywhere in town that I can find this, or am I gonna have to order online?

What kind of salt do you use?

Just about everyone in town should or will carry IO. But the big three like Texas Tropical, Aquarium Designs, and Elegant Reef should have it in stock.

TT carries kent, io, RC and Red Sea..

Elegant has io, RC and Red Sea that I have seen..

Alamo has Kent's, RC, io, and salinity...

Almost all stores have the same brands, some carry more than i listed but that's what I can remember seeing while there... Prices will vary, but all about the same.....

Everyone will have their opinion on salt.... I personally will never use Red Sea again, some love it though..... There is a process to adding it, unlike others where you can just dump in....

I didn't like Kent's......

you need to find a salt that suits your tanks needs and your style of reef keeping

I have kents and like it, but on my next bucket I'm trying salinity for sure.

We mix IO & RC... Get less nuisance algae than straight RC and cheaper too. It gets you the extra stuff in RC but in a reduced amount. Works for us.

+1 I think a lot depends on your tank and goals. I'm using EsV in my 38 because I'm carbon dosing and want to be SPS dominant. I want the low alk and stability it has. It comes in 4 parts though and is expensive. I will not be using it for my FOWLR and will probably use lO. With softies, I have not noticed much difference in any brand. One thing to be careful of is switching brands. The parameters are going to be different and you'll want to minimize alk swings.
