Return pump on last leg

The return pump I've been using is chattering like mad and won't circulate water. I need a return pump ASAP. 😁

Take apart the front, pull out the impeller and clean the housing. May be all that you need to do to keep it running until a replacement can be found.

Did that and saw nothing. It's smooth as a freshly greased pan. Only place it's ruff is where the molded in words are. I ran my fingers all over the inside and over the impeller.

Are you sure it primed properly? The chattering could be cavitation from air. I don't know your setup. That's why I'm putting this out there.

What kind of pump is it?

It's a rio 1700

Ahh okay, cause if it was a mag pump.... Sometimes they just need little tap to get going.

I would think broken shaft... Did you take the impeller apart?

It's a Rio - they don't last that long. You can replace the shaft, but realistically, I find it's more cost effective to just replace them.
