After searching for 4 months I finally lucked into one at Phenomenal Aquatics on Friday. And after two days of hiding he finally poked his head out of a cave and ate some food.

After he acclimates, maybe I can get a pic.

What is it a Scarlet Reef Crab? You can't post something like this and walk away? Pictures, Pictures, and more pictures. Don't tell us you couldn't find your camera.

Because of the nature of the title, my thoughts are of a wrasse.

Ben got it: Cirrhilabrus exquisitus.

I've been looking for one for about 4-5 months. He's doing the hiding thing and only flashes a brief appearance every now and then. Put the egg crates back on the tank to protect against a suicide leap.

No qt for me on fishes. When I tried that years ago, the qt environment seemed to do more harm than good. My tank's pretty well established and stable so I never seem to have many problems with fish health. Plus this guy was pretty active and eating well at the store.

Beggars can't be choosers. Bad lighting, and very skittish so this is the best I can do right now.

Thanks all.

He's definitely a little worse for the wear right now due to the powder blue and anthias chasing him all over the place. But he finally stood his ground tonight and so the two let him stake his claim to a section of the tank.

He ate mysis and some squid bits before the lights went out, so that's an encouraging sign.
