I would like to see 5 types of build threads: nano tank total water/sump under 40 gallons, medium tanks total water/sump under 120 gallons, large tanks total water/sump under 200 gallons, x-large tanks total water/sump under 350 gallons, xx-large tanks total water/sump anything above 350 gallons
a 6ft tank, cant compare to a 12 ft tank, at the same time a 12 ft tank can compare to an outside tank
I often find myself searching for a tank with similar specifications and try to pick up tips. Often small tank owners give advise to monster tank owners, and
monster tank owners giving tips to pico tank owners. And the same thing with medium size tank owners. They are not the same. Just my thoughts

If anything, maybe adding an x-large area. No point in going over 350 for x-x-large as only two or three maastards have a tank that size.

you might be surprised, because your adding the sump size to the display. I think you may find quite a few. L x W x D = Cubic Feet. Cubic ft x 7.47 = Gallons
The total gallons for me is about 310 gallons. But there are plenty other folks here that are over that 350 mark. I cant find their threads either. thats my point.

I mean, it could be they don't post very often also. I know the guy with the 500 in wall only posts every few weeks. You have one of the larger tanks here and even you are under that mark.

If anything we should stick with dt size. On nano reef i saw a guy using a 75 as a sump for an 11 gallon. Sure his tank may behave as an 80 gallon tank but the best advice he would get on aquascaping, coral placement, fish selection, etc would best ve from other 11 gallon users

Shane, we are currently working to unclutter the site and minimize the number of sub forums. I will certainly raise this topic to the rest of the board but, I don't see any sort of immediate action on it. One of the reasons people have a hard time finding a thread is due to the sheer volume of sub forums that it could've been filed away in. We're working to streamline and re classify this information so that it is easier to locate and utilize.
I hope you don't think I'm being dismissive. I do like your idea.

that is different but total water size is still 86 gallons. You can do a lot with a big sump and thats where his advise would be good, not for the nano tank thread. just my thoughts
big sump is big tank
could you imagine a tank thats built like the next tank that is built like the next tank why? because it works. thats boring

I think any advice from any size tank would be good for any user. No need to alienate users based on tank size.

they are different. I am currently experimenting with all different sizes and they are different. Dont look at it as being alienating. Thats wrong idea. INstead look at it as sharing of knowledge and ideas with someone who is currently doing the same thing with same amount of sw.

But at the same time, members with others tanks will still chime in.

Lol that's what I'm saying man! Even if we seperate to 5 different sub forums you'd still have people chiming in
