Right now my 55G tank is sitting on a tank stand which to me is not high enough, and does not give me alot of room on the inside to put in a sump. Let say I get a new stand to replace the stand the tank is currently on. How would I go about taking the tank off the old stand, removing the old stand from its current place, and putting in the new stand and putting the tank onto the new stand?

Figure I will have to remove as much water as possible from the tank, and put livestock in some sort of container. But all the other steps I am clueless on.

Thanks

After you remove about 98 - 99 percent of the water, place the new stand next to the tank and lift one side to slide onto the new stand. Then go to the other side, lift and slide it so that the whole thing rests on the new stand. Never try to move a tank with water in it because it can cause unneeded stress on the seams and could ruin the tank for future use. Once the tank is on the new stand, remove the old one by sliding it out of the way and slide the new stand in place. That's how I moved mine and it worked out perfectly.

sounds good, however the new stand would be higher, but I guess it would be close to the same way, easy way to do it on your own. Was thinking that I had only have to remove about 80 - 85% of the water, good to know I need to get out more than that.

you may want to put some of those furniture moving pads under the new stand so it is easier to slide into place without damaging the floor once the tank is on it.

+1 I used those on my 185g so that I could move the tank and stand across the room without having the take the tank off the stand. They worked like a charm.

Wont be able to use those, unless they glide on carpet as well.

They have some for carpet. Not sure how well they'll work.

hopefully they work well, be easier to move the stand with the tank on it rather than having to move the tank a second time around.

The ones for carpet do work but not as well as on tile or the like. The weight of the tank can cause the carpet to bunch, pull, and stretch as you slide the thing across the room so your fighting the carpet as much as the tank
