Fish Recommendations

I have a 38g Nuvo that's been up for a couple of months now. I have a tail-spot blenny and a Randall's goby. I'm thinking about adding another small fish to the mix. I leaning towards a fire fish but wanted see if anhone on MAAST had any suggestions. I want something that fits in the tank, is not aggressive, is colorful and is active. I figure that a fire fish fits the bill but I thought I would check.

From personal experience, and not sure if it is just my firefish personality or not. But my firefish loves to hide alot. Only time I really see him is after the light has been on for 5 mins or more. I know they are skittish fish by nature and need to have places to hide within your tank. Just not sure if it is normal for a firefish to hide all the time like mine or not. Just a lil FYI on the possibility of not seeing your fish much if you get one. Other than that, I think he is a wonderful addition.

Yeah, I've heard that before. I had one years ago and it didn't hide much at all, but I guess it's hit or miss. I'm also tempted to get a cardinal or a, wait for it, DAMSEL. :O I had good luck with a blue damsel and a yellow tailed damsel being peaceful but they were in a much bigger tank. I'd like something that's going to spend a lot of time out in the open.

I may be able to get away with a couple of small fish. Good point. I'm running a lot of filtration on the tank. I do have a minimal aquascape though so two firefish may not have much room to hide. I may look into some cardinals more.

As in if there is another Firefish in there, no, he is the only one at this time, in there with two blue damsels.

He is hiding because the damsels are more on the aggressive end.

Some kind of clown pair, trio of firefish, or a pair of flame hawkfish

Actually the two Damsels leave the firefish alone, every now and then I see my firefish chase off the biggest of the two damsels.

That is amazing, I love when a supposed to be docile fish develops Napoleon syndrome.

Look into a geometric Pygmy hawk. It's basically an anthias, but they stay pretty small and are pretty active. A flame hawk, or flame back angel are pretty nice also.

I used to have a flame hawk, it has been one of my favorites. The only problem with a hawk is the sexy shrimp I have. :/ I wonder if they'd be an expensive lunch for a Pygmy hawk? My flame hawk never bothered my skunk cleaner but he'd gladly pick off a peppermint's leg.
