Well i had a small outbreak. 6 frags got the fungus. I did a 50/50 dip for 3 min in a tank water/peroxide dip. Its been 4 days and it looks like 2 of the 6 are slowly starting to open back up. What should i do? Redip or just leave em be? I want to know what you guys have done to combat this? I read that furan2 was sometimes deadly to the entire frag. But im just not sure if that was mostly user error or of its that rugged. Ive recently bought some revive and now dipping everything....not just fresh cut frags. Any advise guys?

Ive read a lot and I have found that personal experience from reefers in your area is hands down the best advise. Also if you have fought fungus and won, post up your tips and tricks. Please do not post up something you have read or heard thru the grapevine. Only post up something if you have personally tried it with success....even if you slightly modified what you mimicked and truly believe you were more successful. Thanks all in advance!

I used furan 2 and had success with it. There are others on here that it did not work for though, so I guess it's a risk.

yeah I kept reading about 50% total loss from using Furan2. But there is also a lot of room for user error, and in all reality no one is gonna admit if they screw it up its easier to blame the meds. This is also why I'm asking for personal experience from local members.

I have used the Furan2 with success.

Keys for me were multiple dips in moving water and then a rinse prior to going back into the tank. I did a week long dipping process using a small plastic container and one packet of the Furan2 per dip. I let the colonies sit for approx 15 minutes each time. During the process I had a batch of salt water so I could dip and rinse with new water each time.

Well 2 frags are now 100% and the other 4 look like they are still not wanting to open up. I might try and dig up some furan 2. At this point i dont believe i can save the last 4 but i think im gonna give it a furan 2 go. Anyone know where to get it locally? Id still like to here some hydrogen andbfuran stories if ya got em!

I know for sure that Polly's carries it and I believe Elegant Reef had it. It's been a while since I've had a need for it so sorry if that info is wrong.

I have used a weak peroxide dip for algae only. It was on an incoming frag of zoas that showed a little unknown algae. One thing to keep in mind is the zoas/palys are already stressed so the continued messing with them can cause long periods of being closed up. I would only worry if you see them melting away.

For zoa pox I always use Furan 2. I've never had any luck treating the pox with hydrogen peroxide, CoralRx, CoralMedic or iodine dips. I use a cup of tank water and packet of Furan 2, let the zoas sit in it for 15-20 minutes and blast with a turkey baster occasionally. Rinse in clean saltwater and return to the tank. I normally dip every three days until the zoas are cured. I buy my Furan 2 from ebay, I can get a lot more medicine for a lot less moolah.

Awsome. Well looks like my next search will be for furan 2. I moved those infected zoas to the bottom of the tank where thay still get plenty of light and decent flow. Should i shade em or just leave em as is? All i read was to make sure they got decent flow after a dip.

Sherita, have you used furan 2 for fungus as well, or just "the pox"?
