Im in the market for external pumps. I have been using four sicce syncra 5 pumps and really like them. However im thinking of a full external pump to start replacing the pumps. Which brands are the quietest and good energy consumption. Ive see iwaki rated good.

Also does anyone in SA carry the pumps

I used iwaki pressure pumps for many years. They were very reliable and didn't transfer a lot of heat to the tank water, but they were extremely noisy. Sicce and mag drive pumps are the quietest pumps I've used.

I have been using a ReeFlo Dart for a few years now. I had it on my 150 and now on my 260. Really pretty quiet, and they move mass water (3,600 gph) and can be scaled back. Before that I used a Genx and an Iwaki, good pumps but yes, they are loud.

The 50 PX-X is great and quiet. If does have a fan to cool the motor. But as far as external it is the quietest I have ever used, that did not add heat to the tank. 90 watts - a true 1110 gals per hour. Since BRS sells Panworld Elegant Reef maybe able to get these?
