I am using a veggie clip zip tied to a piece of LR I drop into the tank. Problem is, my tangs destroy the piece of nori tearing it off the clip and it floats away. Has anyone found a viable method to this madness?

Bought a new product at ER, New Era mini Marine Grazer. Its a suction cup that you put a ring of Algea on. My Foxface has to work for his food now, doesn't tear apart like nori sheets

only problem is its a little flimsy and comes apart on the inside piece but a little super glue fixed it...

I always had luck folding the nori up many times before putting it on the clip. If I just folded it a couple of times, they'd pull huge pieces off that would float around the tank. If I folded it tighter, and made a small bundle (for lack of a better term), it seemed to help. UPDATE: I was trying to find a picture of what I'm talking about, but this may be worth trying:

The New Era algae rings seem cool.

folding in the clip works for my 5 tangs, pods like it too:bigsmile:I let mine fall to the sand in the display and refug, little critters like the nori too and eat it up pretty fast

I've tried folding it, but they still tear it off. I suppose it's not a big deal since they eat the floating pieces of nori, but I've seen large pieces stuck to the overflow I'd rather avoid.

Try folding the nori in half then cut little stips in it. Then place it in the clip. This way when the tangs rip off a piece they just take a small strip with them and not the whole chunck.

+1 We cut the nori into 3 equal pieces, then those into 2 pieces (ending up with 6 small rectangular pieces.) We then cut those in small strips almost to the top, but still all attached, so it looks like a grass skirt. Then take 4 pieces and fold together and then fold over uncut top portion and that is what goes into the clip. The extra little fold helps hold it into the clip. That way, when they yank on it, all they get is one small strip.
Of course in my FOWLR the piggy puffer just eats it all if I put it on a clip. I have an adult emperor angel, so end up cutting it into small pieces in a cup of tank water. Once it is soggy, I use a turkey baster to shoot it around the tank so everyone gets some. HTH

I've been using the strip method, folding the square in two and tearing it into little strips they pull off and the rest stays put. Thanks for all the good advice.
