What kind of effect will having a turned on light go in the water have on the fish and corals? The fixture is shorted out and so far the fish seem ok just a few corals are look weird?

Did the bulbs stay intact? If so I wouldn't worry much, everything is probably a little freaked. Was it just a quick dunk?

non as long as it wasnt in there a while, but if that happened dead fish would be least of your worries

It wasn't there long 5 min maybe no dead fish but freaked corals and the fixture is still intact. Made my water super cloudy. And the 2 clowns (cinnamon tomatoes) is where the light went are still alive

Super cloudy = can barely see into display.
If THAT is what your looking at - start doing a 50% water change immediately.

Softies are pretty brutal when they get ****ed. Do a water change, fairly significant one. Be on the safe side.

Agree with what John says. If the softies are mad, it's water change time. Probably more than one water change. The leathers can really release some nasty toxins when they get mad.

If your leathers do not look happy do at least a 50% water change. Leathers can release nasty toxins and kill just about everything in the tank...

Just an update on my tank we did a 30 gal water change ( all I had made up in the 32 gal brute) Xenia still look all limp and the leather still seems to be sleepy looking so far everything is still alive and I'm glad I (on a whim) picked up carbon and media bags at elegant reef) cause I'm pretty sure the carbon and skimmer saved my tank and would like to tank all of you for your help :) hubby thinks the tank didn't get 110 volts cause the ballast shorted and didn't trip anything so he thinks it may have gotten at the most 50 volts which is still a lot and we are thankful our 2 yo didn't get electrocuted
