I have been pondering going with LED's on my 150g, I am currently running T-5's only but this new product from ATI looks like a great combination of both. Any thoughts?

I'd be curious to see some number for the LEDs but they sure sound and look sexy!

Fixture looks nice, I just don't understand how the narrow line of Leds will help or light up a tank wider than 12"? It looks more like a T5 light with some LED's versus an LED fixture with T5 suppliments?

when I saw it macna I thought the same thing they are powerful LEDs but it doesn't seem it would do much being such a narrow strip in the center. pacific sun makes a nice t5 led hybrid with 1000+ watts of power.

The Pacific Suns are nice. They have two different models I believe.

75 watts per puck is like having 4 ai sols teamed up with 4 t5s....
I think this unit will be awesome....

At two large for a 60" fixture... Looks like it will be one heck of a light.

1000 watts would defeat the purpose of going to leds. I am going to reach out to reefgeek today to see how good of a spead they have. The 60"unit is rated for up to a 72" in tank to so I would think the spead is fine. ATI has made some of the best fixtues in the past...I have T-5 only one from them now and its very good.

Yeah the price is steep for sure but I dont mind paying for quality... to a point. I am pricing the cost for 3 vegas with controller and a retro T-5 and this route would be more but less work.

Yes 1000 watts is both over kill and defeats the purpose of going led..... But I bet it don't produce half the heat of a MH system, so to those that don't care about energy cost, it will be a powerful unit...
I would definitely give the ati fixture a look in the future... I love the vega's I love them more with the aid of 2 t5s.

Thanks but I still think 1000 watts is overkill... LoL
i don't see what kind of system would require that much lighting....

After reading a thread on RC reviewing the 48" version I am going to get this light. The color, par and quality is incredible. I have pre ordered it! FYI the thread is called ATI powermodule hybrid club. Now...I just need a way to save up 2k in 2 months witbout getting into trouble.:hypnotyized:

Would have been nice if ai released the ai flare....
they were supposed to be led strips in a tube design, I would think with the functionality of all the ai products....
that would be sweet to have the strips in place of t5s with the sunrise/set features and bam 2 250mh kick on.....

But Chris this ati fixture would be neat...
you know you still have a sweet spot for t5s

Ok...How about a Halide/T-5/Led combo??? LOL
350gt
Fri, 3rd May 2013, 04:31 PM
Lol I had that....
But only 2 150s

It was a aquatic life fixture(2t5s/2 150 mh) and 3 ecoxotic panorama pro strips...
Worked well but LEDs were over powered..
i am now running 3 vega's and 2 t5s in my canopy..

The powermodule would be so much cleaner though .....
