So, I haven't been around in along time but have kept a tank running. My biocube 29 has the filtration, rim and hood removed. I added a overflow box, custom light mount and a aquaticlife 150w MH pendant. I made a basic sump out of 2 5.5g tanks connected with a 1" bulkhead. I also have a BRS dual canister filter on the outside of the stand. For now it is just a basic macro tank with a few corals. I'm trying to make up my mind if I want to make it a real macro tank or go back to SPS, I still miss my old 57g SPS tank I had. Any input on stocking ideas would be cool, I'm not a mixed tank fan though so that won't happen. Here are a few pics.

I would go with sps or else you'll be wasting all that light just for some macro. You have experience with sps already, so why not do it again , but that just me.

I miss your 57G and that cool light you had too. Or you can make it into an all Display Macro tank with varieties of different colors.

I'm leaning towards SPS myself, every time I watch my old TOTM video I miss SPS

SPS dood, you have always had great success with SPS...and might be your last chance to acquire premium acros etc with that endangered species craziness going on. Can't imagine it actually passing though.

SPS!

After some more thought I have decided to stick with a macro/Palau nepthea tank. I put another larger piece of nepthea and dragons breath in my tank from my girlfriends tank today. I will just try to fill the tank with really nice macro and use one of my 5.5g sump section that has the LEDs over it as a nepthea prop tank. It is one of the only soft corals I have ever liked, so I will go with it and try to produce a bunch of heathy mini colonies.

Welcome back! Your 57g was epic! That's how it starts, "oh just a few softies and some macro", then before you know it, full blown SPS tank with all the bells and whistles! :) I took a semi-break as well and was going to start back up and just wanted softies and easy stuff. Of course, now I'm working on a SPS system. The addiction is just too great!
