View Full Version : Nanocube DX 12 chambers not functioning?

I recently picked up a nano cube 12 DX from a person on craigslist. Upon filling the tank, it seems that the levels in all three chambers and the main tank are all the same no matter how high I run the internal pump. I used to own a biocube 12 and a mini 2 gallon and it seemed in all of these that the water level in the chamber with the return pump was always lower than the other two.
Is the DX not designed to run this way?

I know from my experience, the optional surface skimmer has a huge role on those chambers's water level.

I'd bet that it's leaking through the rear baffle seams.

Or that could be it too, I was trying to be optimistic about bad equipment. Lol.

do you mean the tank is leaking to the outside or the inner seals of each chambers are leaking?

I think he means the inner seals Zach.

this is a good point... I run a HOB skimmer in my chambers of my biocube and the problem is that due to the size of the skimmer it draws water from first chamber and dumps to second chamber and then I have a HOB overflow in the 3rd chamber causing everything to be the same level. When I lowered my overflow it drained too fast so back up it went. Unfortunately the skimmer addition also caused everything to run at the same level as the display and took away surface skimming and resulted in a film. The remedy for the film was to dose regularly with H2o2. Just my experience and may not be related to your issue but just another thought to think about.

So I messed around with the credit card mod on this and by gosh it worked. I'm going to buy a cassete holder to make it look more legit but it was a successful proof of concept.
