The topic up for discussion this week is:

"All anemones require strong lighting in order to thrive"

True, or False? Do all anemones need strong lighting in order to thrive in our reef tanks? Let's hear your opinion! As always, photos are welcome.

Tube anemones don't since they aren't photosynthetic. I've had a maxi-mini in my coral qt tank for a few months now under CFL's and haven't had any issues. I've also heard that rock anemones don't need as intense light as other nems.

It's a tie with mine, I have two mini-gbta's that are clones from the same parent nem and one is in full light under 2x 250w mh with supplemental LEDs, is the size of a golfball at least and hosting my maroon clown, while the other has positioned itself in full shade underneath a montipora cap, thriving with nice plump tips, but half the size.

My nems are the same some like to be out and in full light and some like to hide out in caves plus I have my 2 tubes that don't need light either. I spot feed all my nems several times a week so that helps to

Nope false. There are a few that do like like mags and carpets but most others don't need anything more than a t5 setup or something even weaker like Paul's sebae. That thing was massive.

Agreed, not all do. I know ball nems do not, not sure about aiptasia.

Aiptasia don't need any light. I had them growing in my cryptic fuge with no light at all.

yeah, aiptasia don't for sure!

And as far as RBTA...hit or miss, Bill keeps them in his 8g biocube and has done so for a few years now.

My answer: "False"
