I have a problem with a purple haze monti and a superman. They are not extending their polyps, but it's only in the center. See the purple haze....color is off and polyps are not extended in the middle of the piece but the outer .5" rim looks normal. See the pic of the superman, it's polyps are very retracted...but the rainbow montipora on the same piece of branch rock looks just fine. What gives?

PH 8.1-8.35
Alk 10
Ca 450
Mg 1330
Salinity 51.8mS (1.025 SG)
Temp 78-79 any time of day
No recent changes in lighting
No new additions
Etc...

So anyone had this before? I don't see any nudibranch anywhere...

My acros and monti's will develop areas like that too. It usually lasts a few days to a few weeks but they have always recovered. I still have no clue why it happens.

I had that happen to me with my purple haze, but mine was a drop in pH.

I looked at the graph of pH for the past few weeks and it never dips below 8.12 and max is around 8.38....

Phosphate and all the other typical stuff is good. I change 10 gallons of water each week. TDS is always 0, etc...looking for something to try. I'm puzzled as to why it is only these two pieces. I have a bunch of other montis and acros that are fine.

Nope. I have not changed anything in a long time, but I am thinking of turning down the whites. I still can't figure out why it is only in the center of the purple haze, and why is the superman suffering but the rainbow on the same rock is fine
