yes, but it is much cheaper to order a big container through brineshrimp direct or another online vendor.

i have two hatcheries. that way i can hatch a new batch every day and enrich them for 24 hours with phyto so the tank is being fed two day old enriched brine. the fishes and corals love it.

last time i did brine i would drain out to many when draining the gunk,shells and the light trick would never work for me i want to learn too :)

I think the soda bottle method is the legit method. The kits you buy require you to provide a 2-liter bottle of your own. I did it about once or twice (for cichlid fry) and then decided it was too much work.
