I was wondering if anyone here has kept some of these beautiful Eel's. I have been researching them for awhile and have always wanted to get some. I dont have the sand bed in my 90 gallon needed to take care of some so I was thinking about starting a tank just for a pair of them. The research that I have done says you need a large tank to keep several of these in with at least a 6in sand bed. My questions is if bought small enough do you really need a big tank for them? I know they will grow but how big does the tank really need to be? Just wanted to get some input on this. Thanks.

im sure like with any animal they require a specific amount of territory as not to fight for living space or see each other as competition for food also. kinda like putting a tang in a 2.5g tank just because its small and fits doesn't mean its right or will work. im sure there is a reason people online have put they need a lot of living space.

Not really an eel, we call them pipe fish.
lol, just kidding of course. I don't think there is an actual eel that would fit well in a 29 gallon tank.
