So I somehow managed to find a BRAND NEW NEVER USE OUT OF THE BOX fluval on CL today. She had it listed as $50 obo. I offered $40 and we got it!

I've never had a tank this small before but I understand WC's are key. Jason and I were thinking of doing high end zoas and rics with maybe a two spot goby or something along those lines. Any other ideas? Can't wait to get started, but before we do, we're going to look up DIY modifications (mainly lighting) :) more to follow...

You're brave!! Lol. Now time to save up for a new led fixture for this. I'm thinking AI nano, by my pocket book says no at the moment. Time to save pennies and donate some blood...lol jk

I have 4 extra LEDs from my bf's build so I'm gonna have him make me a little light fixture

Nice, I did find a retrofit kit on rapidled, it's for a biocube 8g, and looks like it would fit nicely in the hood.

I could, just not sure how I'd set it up. I really want to keep the hood, or make a new one. I like the hood look, looks sharp and matches the bottom. And the tank doesn't look as clean when the hood is removed.
With the nano or retrofit kit, I can slip it inside the hood and mount it.

Doing some mods to the filter, using the same plastic grating it came with for a support for my filter. Going to add some macro full of pods in there along with some chemi pure. It worked well with the AC70 I had on my 20L

Water, sand rock added. Picked up a small ballast at the fishy market (thanks ben!!!) that runs 9watt bulbs. Running a 10k and actinic:
