Okay Maastards time to get your frags and any equipment you have lying around for our annual Spring frag swap. Reefers can bring their propagated corals, fragged from their own tanks, to either trade or sell at this event. Tables will be provided, one table max per person. Please post in this thread if you will need table space.

*Entry Fees: Charter members and Sponsors +1 guest - Free
Web Members and Non-sponsors - $5 per person

Food will be provided, BBQ of course, so bring an appetite as well.

A frag swap is an event where alot of reef junkies get together and bring frags (peices of coral), talk about well anything lol and you can also get some items like lights or tanks. All on all it is a good time.

Oh and you do not have to bring anything with you. You can just go and buy frags if you would like.

I took a lot to a lfs so you can still get them. I still have some but been working so much I never had time to frag. Plus I'll be breaking down my tank to put it in wall so Im slowly getting rid of my corals beforehand. Embarrassingly I setup a 40 gallon got it full with water then realized there wasn't a plug behind the tank like I thought. . So waiting for my electrician to come over(this was going to be my temp tank on the chalices).

Yes, it took me awhile to make this decision. Have been putting it off for awhile. I've had some personal things that have come up in my family and I just don't have the time I used to for the tank. The tank started to get overgrown with ricordia, at first only covered the bottom of the tank, but then started growing up over the rocks. As I had less time for maintenance, they took over half the tank and ended up killing alot of my old corals. About 3 months ago I cleaned out the tank, took a bunch of rock out that was covered in the ricordia. Then fragged up some of my larger colonies to ensure they transfer well and grow in other tanks.

The coral I have are still big as usual, healthy, and pest free. I have big chunks of Ace's Valida that I had to break up with a hammer and chisel.
I'm looking to downgrade for now to just fish only. Keeping my rose anemone I've had forever. Also turning off the halides to help with the heat and electric bill.

I liked it, didn't feel as cramped as past locations...and the back door was very convenient. Loved that we didn't have to walk down a mile long maze of a hall to get to the bathrooms as well.

I hope everyone who bought a frag from me was happy with their purchase. That was a really great place to have the swap. It brings in alot of Austinites and surrounding locations being close to IH-35. Also, the food was excellent and Allan did a good job MC'ing the event. Way to go staff for putting it together!!
