This is what I got using the par meter from Louis at elegant....
All these are estimates as factors such as placement was a pain due to rock work or center brace being in the way....
Center brace is I believe 1/4" glass..

Now AI recommends them at 4-6" for good results or from where they were tested... I honestly dont think I need to l0wer them anymore.... I had higher #s at 6" but my sunset montis color started dulling out... So I raised them back to 8 and I think I will leave them there..... Maybe just raising all intensities to 100 within time......

Thank you for this. I've been debating to either get mh or led. My main thing about getting led is the growth vs mh. But these numbers let me know what I needed.

No problem... If I dropped them to 4-6" theres no question I would have 200-300 or more par on the sand bed...
but at that rate and how my intensities are set, I would burn some stuff that's placed higher.. So I would have to start over with acclimating.... Which I don't really care to do...
At 6" I will still covering the 5ft length of the tank...

FWIW with my 250w MH I have a PAR reading of 200-250 on my sand and with that level my frogspawn and SPS like birdsnest do very well. I think your levels are great and you are right no need to lower them. Thanks for posting.

Good numbers Tony. Thanks for doing the leg work.
I am still happy with mine, but am curious now what kind of numbers I am getting with only two above my 120.

Because everything is growing fine. Why try to break what don't need fixing?

Not really breaking anything. More like fortifying. It's like an M4. Already a highly effective weapon system, but add an EOTech sight to and it just improves it.

Both are good.. And even though I kid with ppl about MH... I would use them if I felt the need...
I have never had a good mH over my tank to compare.... But if you ever get the chance to see Chris's tank you will be blown away..... Not by all the heat but by how good it looks.. Both technologies are good for what they are..
If I was hardcore SPS I think I would still stick to MH, only cause some sticks are very picky!
But if your going for a softy or mixed reef with a few sticks..... No reason not to go led!

Thanks Tony! this new "batch" of led fixtures is well on its way to perform as well as MH, and its controlability makes them better, as you can only turn on and turn off mh. But those numbers are impresive and color is getting so much better, im sure very soon this will perfected, till then ill hold on to my classic muscle car lol.

thanks... I was hoping for 200-250 at the bottom with my current settings.. But I too think I will be fine with where they are at.
Oh well.... I'm taking a bunch of pictures and will document growth...
to have a bigger problem with the aiptasia right now... I want to place more sticks and other corals but unable to do so cause of this problem..

Chris there are some periods though out the day that I look in my tank and just smile...... The colors are amazing. There is a noon period that drive me nutts cause of the noon (10k) look but it's beneficial.....
lol me and Leroy joked about the LEDs making fairy dust palys look good.. Lol they pop!

You can never have too many lights!!!! LoL
I'm still thinking on adding some UV LEDs... Not by swapping pucks but maybe some par38 bulbs... Don't think it's needed but I got that itch ever since ray Allen posted that thread... :)

Always happens like that. I've called no less than 10 times trying to find it. The only time it made it to my house was when a member was nice enough to bring it by while they had it checked out and lived close by. When are you taking it back?
